The first Scottish Borders Campus 10k run organised as part of the 'Organising a Sports Event' unit by the BTEC National Diploma in Sport YR 2 students was a great success, and feedback so far has been very positive. The first male finisher and winner of the 10k was Keith Elliot in a time of 41minutes 21secs.

First female finisher was Eileen Handyside in a time of 48 minutes 46 secs. 'Spot prizes' were also awarded to the runners who finished in 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th, and 25th position.

The prizes were Meal for two in The Restaurant,(donated by Vicky McDonald) Facial massage,(Hair & Beauty Salon) Free coffees in The Union (The Union) and 2 goodie bags (Think Fitness, Hawick). The run was supported by David Harrison, Galashiels, DS Dalgleish & Son, Galashiels, Trophy Guy, Booker Wholesale and Jamie Mart (Lucozade Sport Science).

Thanks to Liz McIntyre for presenting the winners with their trophies and medals. Also thanks to Cameron, Glen and Iain for their help with printing the kilometre markers and vest numbers. The students have decided to donate after costs, £87 to Sportrelief.

The remaining £42 will be used towards either an end of term trip or next years proposed week long residential at Loch Eil. Thanks to all participants both in the 10k and the 5k and also all who helped to make the event a success and hopefully this event will grow from here on.
